Master of Public Health – AIIMS Jodhpur

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is the premier institution in India for medical education. With the aim of making affordable and world class healthcare to every region of the country, the Government of India decided to start the branches of AIIMS in various cities across the country. AIIMS Jodhpur is one of the first batches of institutions to be opened in 2012. School of Public Health (SPH) in AIIMS Jodhpur provides a specialization in community care and offers an opportunity to learn and research the public health systems across the world with particular focus on India.

Master of Public Health is a postgraduate course offered in the field of public health by the institution with the aim of imparting necessary skills to tackle the public health issues affecting the community. It is a two-year full-time course offered at AIIMS Jodhpur. The admission will be through a national level entrance examination. After clearing the entrance test, candidates will be called for a personal interview. Both the entrance exam marks and the performance in the personal interview will be considered for admission to the course.

There a total of 15 seats are available per batch, and they are further split into three categories. Seven seats are allocated to medical professionals, 3 for non-medical and five seats for the sponsored groups. This distribution helps in understand the different views of the professionals and make a consensus plan which is very critical in dealing with public health issues.

For admission under the medical seats, the candidate must have completed MBBS, BDS or Alternative System of Medicine in India (AYUSH) degree. For admission into the non-medical seats, the candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree in nursing, veterinary sciences or engineering with a minimum 55% marks in graduation examination. Candidates with a postgraduate degree in relevant fields with minimum 50% marks can also apply for the course. Industry sponsored candidates should have either of the above degrees with a minimum of 3 years working experience.

Applications for the admission process are now open. Application forms and prospectus are available on the website of AIIMS Jodhpur. The courses will commence from January 2018.
